↑ A collabo tee between TIZ and Pixel, the graphic design club @ UC Davis. Not for sale. It’s one of my favorites. Just to show much of a design geek I am. Don’t hate.
Yet another food post!? I blame my current job nature. Ever since Plushtography took off, I’ve been burying myself in piles of pillows. And as accomplishing as making pillows can possibly get, I still like to keep myself away from that process every once in awhile for a fresh/lint-free breath of air. Nowadays, when times get rough, food seem to be my getaway.
But am I really becoming a foodie?! Not at the moment, but Michelle is, which is how I discover all these delish restaurants:
It was a spontaneous trip, which is why I was dSLR-less. (But that’s no excuse, I know) Pardon the 5 mega Pixel – not so bokehlicious photos.
↑ The place is called “Izakaya Sozai”, a 4 star with 515 reviews on Yelp. Meant to be a snack joint, where a group of friends would order multi small dishes over a couple of sake/beer, but we heard they have amazing ramen as well.
First thing in the restaurant:
↑That’s promising.
The place is tiny:
Average wait time around 40 minutes. Definitely gana make a reservation next time around. (yup, I am coming back for mo!)
It was too crowded, so I waited outside with my new buddy here:
↑The hipest dog on the block. hands down.
We’re up. My stomach was about to have a riot in my belly for starving it too long.
↑ One sheet. Two sided menu. They kept it simple. So simple, they only have one ramen dish. The only options are: yay or nay on pork belly and spicy miso.
An assorted list of snack dishes. Pretty pricey.
Strange.
Food came out pretty fast, a plus! Looks and smells freaking amazing!
↑Turn out to be around $12/ bowl +tax. Slightly above an average meal, but reasonable.
One of us ordered the spicy miso to try.
↑The portion is big enough to share between two.
After adding it to the our ramen..
↑ I wouldn’t do it justice if I say it took a piece of heaven and shoved it in my mouth. Ok, maybe I sounded too dramatic dramatic, but it’s pretty darn good. I don’t want to have you guy had too high of an expectation when you decide to visit, so I’m just gana leave it as I was way too hungry from waiting in line.
We also tried something different:
↑Bacon wrap mochi?! That’s right. 2.50 a piece. Not bad, good for first timer, but I wouldn’t order it on a regular basis.
An advantage of taking the bar seats is able to see the production of each dish, especially when it’s done by the owner himself. Ritsu’s opened the spot for about 1 and a half year now. Lots of reviews, lots of traffic. Best of luck to them!
↑ZOTD is Marcus Lampley! This guys must’ve gone way back – Those are discontinued zip and zeeb TIZ stickers!
If you’d like to be the zeeb(s) of the day. Send us photos of you rockin’ em Zeebs! or via Facebook, Twitter, or just tumblr label #tiz or #theimaginaryzebra..etc!
