↑ Thanks Jim for the ceramic of the Zeeb. Jessica, too. Except I still have to heat set her character.
It took a good amount of time plus a serious talent to bring our mascot to life (no 3D glasses needed.)
A little background info on our guy:
We all call this guy “Zeeb”. The name was given by one of you guys. I think.
It’s on a good amount of our t-shirts, in which one of them was voted as the most wanted tee surpassed the other 23 contestants. Zeeb’s also the rep of TIZ for many collaboration projects.
Its fame and glory don’t just lay upon t-shirts, though.
It’s got the distinctive facial feature and swagger that turn into the template of all of our zeeb characters.
I even made it into a plush few years back. (Now sits on my desk.)
Wall papers and stickers of Zeeb were made, too.
..but never a time have we made the Zeeb move. It’s always been design/drawing on paper or another object for decoration. We decided to bring it up a notch:
To begin the process, we looked for references on sculpting this character – outfit, physical attributes, and proper dimensions. It’s our first time, so we had to make sure its proportion’s fits the right physics.
Then, sketching out the ratio of each aspects of it.
The butt, in particular, is one of its most attractive feature. Right, ladies?
Rough layout.
Mock up #1. Doesn’t it reminds you of the old school VR fighters?
The CGI allow us to play with different textures.
↑ Black glass. Glossy’s pretty slick.
↑Mirror’s soooo dope.
↑ Original grey. Matte texture, like I envisioned.
Mock up #2. Fixing minor details and refining each part.
Ah, much smoother outlines.
Add apparel. OG B/W, as it’s the most classic of classics, ftw.
Final:
Zoom in on the detail of the denim (Just look at the texture!) and kicks. Zeeb tag. We used vans for its balance between simplicity and complexity.
Standing.
and musing.
Major props to Ko-Wei for making the character.
More projects will be incorporating this guy.
Keep up the open mind. Hope you like what Ko-Wei’s made.
