We’ve spent about 10 hours in the city daily on average. Moving on to day 3, here goes another 60+ photo entry!
Headed out extra early because we’re going to…
..the legendary ramen house – Ippudo! (E-poodle was how Cody remembered it) for lunch
↑ Almost every other person who’s visited NYC recommended this place. We were there to find out whether the noodles are remarkable or just a plain hype.
Word on the street was that lines would start building up even before the store opens (on a daily bases), so we made it early. 15 minutes before the opening hour. There were about 3 groups in front of us, not to bad for a weekday.
↑ Tony filled me on the meaning of “Kae-dama” – noodle refill. In this case, with an extra $2.
Tracy loved their pork buns:
↑ That’s $16 bucks. We measured that it’d be around $1 per bite. So dam expensive, but sooo good.
Pork literally melts in your mouth.
↑ Good experience, I don’t think I can afford a round 2.
Next up, the rice bow that came with the ramen combo (Ramen price + $3):
↑ Coco pulling the Jim face. He got the grilled eel rice bow.
↑ Michelle got, in my opinion, the most delicious rice bow of the 3- Roast pork over rice.
Yum.
Tony got the fried chicken rice bow:
With a round of applause, time for ramen!
↑ The waiter there recommended the “Akamaru Modern Ramen” ($13) – ‘The original tonkotsu’ soup noodle with Ippudo’s special sauce, pork belly chashu, cabbage, kikurage, scallions, miso paste & fragrant garlic oil.
..and the classic: Shiromaru Hakata ($13) – ‘The original tonkotsu’ soup noodle with pork loin chashu, kikurage, menma, 1/2 boiled egg, red pickled ginger, sesame & scallions
I personally think it was a decent ramen restaurant that serves authentic tasting cuisine – since it’s decently priced (except for the god forbidden pork buns), it’s definitely a place to hit up.
The next destination:
..that we didn’t ride. Just look at the amount people there. The line even stretched across the park!
So this was as close as we could get to the Statue of Liberty. Good enough for me.
↑word.
Adjacent to the pier, we got Wall street and the world renown “Charging Bull.”
↑ word?
↑Federal Hall National Memorial.
↑ Fierce young lady with her jacket hung around her arm. It was about 38 degree – interesting to see the comparison of the girl with the lady next her, who’s obviously feeling a bit chilly even with coat on.
WTC.
In the process of building the memorial and museum:
Close by the WTC site, there’s a place called “Century 21,” where they have an assorted collection of apparel.
Gotta give this place some respect:
↑Not much picture taken at this place, we were still too tired from all the walking we’ve done these past few days.
Yet another example of us taking any opportunity for quick naps.
This guy was sleeping at Crate & Barrel – how convenient.
quick swing by to Premium Laces.
That’s right, Cody and Carmut had to try it.
↑ Shack dog or the second bird dog? I don’t remember.
Concrete jungle! recommended by Fellup.
↑ Concretes are one of the specialty item by Shake Shack – Dense frozen custard blended at high speed with Shack-made mix-ins. This one in particular was made up with hot fudge, bananas and peanut butter ($6.) Super good, but maybe a bit cold for the weather.
New York’s full of delectable dishes. We’re up for dinner, already.
↑Nope, not this place. But dyam, check out that Chinatown McDonald’s, son!
Dinner’s at Joe’s Ginger – twin of Joe’s Shanghai. or so they say.
↑ Yet another restaurant recommended by lot of my friends. Time to test it out!
They posted info on that, too.
Dinner’s served:
They’re known for their “Bao.”
↑Pork and crab.
Overall, it was alright. Perhaps I just wasn’t that hungry, it didn’t taste as remarkable as I hoped for.
Just a few blocks a way, we stumble across this “Cha Chan Tang” – which happen to be the pronunciation of the place.
The interior design of the place was clever. It really tried to capture the authentic “street” atmosphere for the restaurant.
↑They placed screens displaying the streets of Hong Kong behind window frame.
That’s a giant picture pasted on the far end of one of the walls. Pretty cool, eh.
While waiting for our drinks:
↑so fierce.
Kailin’s master piece.
Kevin deserves some credits.
↑ I like the place, they have interesting ways of serving the drinks, too. Not only would this keep the drink cold, it doesn’t dilute the milk tea with melted ice cubes. plus!
↑ Good times.
Finally, ending the day with a couple Vogue photoshoots on the subway. We. were. shameless.
↑Guy on the far right kept his cool.
’til tomorrow,
