For the next 5 days, I’ll reveal and tell you about the idea behind 1 of the 5 shirts from series 3 everyday.
So, there’s been a big gap between series 2 and the up coming series 3. Aside from the various projects I’ve been working on, it took a good chunk of time to filter through all the okay ideas for just a few good ones that eventually became the graphics for Series 3. And that is the exact reason why TIZ’s a series based clothing brand as oppose to seasonal based- I put out t-shirts spontaneously with each series instead of forcing out ideas to meet deadlines of each season.
↑As much as I like to drop new shirts every week, I’d never know when the next fresh idea is going to pop up. The phase of sketching down all the possible ideas and waiting on that BAM idea moment has been in most, if not all, the design process since I started TIZ from day 1. It’s a big part of what TIZ is, hence, the situation of being spontaneous and capturing that fresh idea became the concept behind this shirt.
The Idea: Thanks to Eden, she told me about popcorns in relation to ideas – you place all the potential kernels(rough ideas) in the microwave, while knowing almost all of them will pop eventually, but you can never figure out how long it’ll take for the first one to become a popcorn(BAM idea).
↑Visualization of the idea: I really enjoy designing packages, especially with the freedom to add my own touch.
The final design: Took the old fashion color way of popcorn and repackaged to my liking.
↑”Hand popped, no trans fat.” Yup, these can be handpopped. Imagination’s a good tool, eh
↑One of the popcorn turned TIZ. The red heart was placed to offset the plain white popcorns and serve as a reflection on my passion for design.
BAM.
4 more to go.
