Why start a blog?

I read “BLOG” before realizing that it’s a combination of numbers and letters.

Strange? We all choose to see what we want to see. I’ve been dedicating a good chunk of my time daily (or every other day. or every three days) on this blog (and a few others in the past) for the last 3 years (2009). I guess it’s not too strange after all.

More than 880 posts (on this particular blog) and a speculation on a heavy duty excavator later, it’s time to give my 2 cents on blogging.

Starting a blog is one of the few good decisions I’ve ever made. I’ll explain why, but just to make sure we’re on the same page, thought I’d throw this out in plain sight: It barely made me money, if any, directly. Writing’s my worst/ most disliked subject of all time. I make crap loads of grammatical errors and typos. It is time consuming – I hate to admit this, but each post would take an hour or two to complete (that’s just me, though.)

Either one of the above would’ve terminated my motive to start this blog. But like eating vegetables, you know it’s good for you in some sorda way, so you just do what you gotta do. I wrote my very first blog entry in ’08.

Putting the fine-way-to-record-events-and-memories attribute aside, the blog allows me to connect with my audience in a very transparent way, makes me pay more attention to the things around me, and, at times, drives me to live to the fullest (so it may be blog-worthy.) Those aren’t even the premise for me to start the blog to begin with. All the benefactors sorda just surfaced when I looked back and really thought about it.

Keep bloggin’.
