Customizable Uncommon IPhone Case Review

I like to unbox and review so much, I think I just might make a shirt about it. might.
Few months ago, I started a YouTube channel strictly on these reviews, but it’s more time consuming than expected. As oppose to half assin’ the vids, I decided to lay low on that and concentrate on using just words and photos. That being said, here goes my take on these “Uncommon Cases.”

I’ve had this phone for about 2 years now:

↑The Palm Centro. Loved it. It was compact and subtle. Didn’t pay the data plan for it, but it has just enough functionality to make life easier – basically a really user-friendly calendar  to-do-list.

2 years later, my contract with Sprint’s ended and I think it’s the right time for an upgrade.

I went for this (via Verizon):

↑I was blown away by the design when iPhone4 was first introduced.

Heard iPhone5’s coming out in Fall(?), which is just a several months from now, to make sure I have enough funding in the future to switch, I intend to keep this iPhone as crisp and clean as possible to maintain its resale value – hence, a good case.

While I was looking for a proper case, I kept the phone scratch-free with the old fashion way:

↑ I left it in the box when I used it.

I also kept the default protective adhesive on:

After a few weeks of browsing prior to getting the phone, I was finally decided to pull the trigger with “Uncommon” for my first set of cases. I’ll explain my reasons:

↑That’s right, “Cases.” Uncommon had a buy 1 get 1 free sale. It was sign. They’re slight more expensive.

Here’s the general logistic on how Uncommon works.

↑ Uncommon’s a customizable case. They would “3D Tatt” the design of your choice on the case of your choice. I picked “Capsule,” a case that covers all side, shape similar to the Incase Sliders.

Product arrived in a week, not too bad, considering it’s a customized product.

I love the fact that I was able to customize them to my liking. A personal touch seem to be all the heat for all products across the board nowadays:

Here’s the fist design concept:

↑I had a hard time coming up with a theme, so I thought I’d leave it “blank.” With just a subtle zeeb logo at the bottom of the tool bar.

Design 2’s certainly not original. I’ve seen cases like this all over the internet, I’m sure you have, too, but it was too good to pass on.

↑At first, I wanted to make it the white Leica M8, a very rare leica. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a decent quality photo of it. So I ended up with the regular Leica M8.

A more detailed look at the case:

↑All cases have “Uncommon” written on the side of it.

“Capsule,” one of their series, is a slider case.

↑Made in Korea, customized in USA.

↑Wiped clean and ready for installation.

The concept of personalizing the case, but unfortunately, the quality of the print was not as good as I hoped for. Maybe because I’m picky, or perhaps I uploaded a crappy file (which i doubt), it looked like it was printed by a generic printer on paper, then clear coated for finish.

↑3 out of 5 stars.

Since it’s a slider, the image was divided. It’s not as noticeable as shown in the photo, though:

Snug fit, match well with the screen protector (that I applied on my own before purchasing the case.)

Now for a quick comparison: Uncommon vs Incase.
Note: Incase is a reputable brand that produce high quality, slickly designed cases for all the Apple products.

↑Uncommon wins this round. The contoured side is better when pressing the volume button.

↑Incase took this round with a wider mic jack hole. It fits a bit tight when I plug in my “Marshall” headphone jack for the uncommon. Either would work well with the default Apple headphones, but only Incase could fit the fat AUX jack, the uncommon’s hole’s too small. The bottom didn’t make much of a difference in my opinion.

It also came with the coupon:

↑ Here’s to you guys, first come first serve.

That’s it:

Overall I think it’s a great case – seem to do a good job at protecting the phone. It also allow the users to personalize the phone with a decent price range. If only the quality of the printing is better, it would’ve been the ultimate case of my choice.

Quick question:

So which brand?
