Just last week, we were invited to show case our upcoming series at the annual Asian Pacific Culture Night(APCN) – one of the events for the Asian Pacific Culture Week.
Due to DDR, one of the most epic dance event in Davis, most performers weren’t able to discuss about the choreo and line up of the event till the week before. The schedule was packed, especially when it also turned out to be midterm season. Great.
Here’s a recap of what went down, why people lost weight and got sick, and why I’m so dam impressed and proud of the people we work with:
First official meeting with the people involved for the show. We got a few things that needed to be done as soon as possible – props, tabling set up, choreo, music mix, screen animation, promotions..etc.
APCN was one of TIZ’s biggest show. The house was FILLED last year, we had to come up something “remarkable”.
Choreo had begun.
We also had a surprise for the tabling aspect – a photo opp to become a set of action figures.
“Rough draft.”
The performance we planned revolved around a photobooth. It costs $900+ to rent one of those. Screw that. We made our own.
Got all the supplies from Home Depot. The frame and the basic structure was completed in a day.
In the mean time, we had put out our promotional video as well as online flyers and event invitations.
More practices after their classes. Refinements.
Dress rehearsal. Photobooth basically done. Get to run through our portion for the very first time. Performers started remembering their queues. Crunch time.
Very quickly, 7 days had passed. Other than the performance, we had a first look of the series 2 for those who came up to the show.
“left hand up”
Photobooth’s ready. If you’ve made to the show, claim your photos here.
Law and Eric showing some TIZ love.
Leo and Nicki, the best of the best, MC’d for the show.
MK Choir. They gave me a thank you card for designing their shirts. How cool!
Unbound Vision also presented their upcoming spring line.
Taiko, for the win.
Bboy’s INTENSE performance.
Always a kodak moment for Jobu.
Hailing from San Diego, After School Special.
Then, we’re up. To show the crowd what we’ve been working on.
Oh no, yet another technical difficulty. Funny thing is how it all turn out smoothly till the ACTUAL performance. Nicki came out for the rescue.
I like this picture.
“It takes skills”
The “behind the scene” people that made this possible. Please pad yourself on the back, you guys were the back bone.
The supportive friends that came out.
“TIZ?!”
You guys were awesome, thanks!
