Eating Off the Grid

Thanks to Michelle for introducing me a playground for food trucks. I’ve only stumble across single food truck or blocks full during special events, never a time seeing a gathering of 5-6 of them on a  regular bases. Don’t know when it all happened, but I’m loving the idea.

“Off the grid” is a mobile catering service that provide extravagant cuisines from a series of food trucks at locations across San Francisco through out the week. It was Thursday and they had their spot at Upper Haight.

After checking out their site, I found the weekly schedule. Apparently the ones on Friday have up to 30 trucks! at Fort Mason Center.

Swung by a tad bit late.

With quite a few cart around the plaza, seem wise to browse through our selections before making any investments.

Turned out not-so-wise, because now I wanted to try EVERYTHING.

↑No boss eat with tables. you’re a boss, right?

↑Korean BBQ burrito (aka korrito) and BBQ steak sandwich looked epic. Too bad the cart closed by the time we tried to order. You’re on my shitlist, Korean BBQ truck.

↑I laughed. Witty name and great illustration on the truck – more picture (by more, I mean one more) down this post.

↑All types of casual. Conveniently, off the grid was quite a to-go place for the residents and workers around the area. Also a pit stop for many bikers that passed by.

First truck we tasted, with limited time on the clock. Not only did the truck have interesting decorations, it was the closest to us at the moment.

↑Slightly cold when served. It wasn’t too bad.

Truck #2:

It was pretty good. Perhaps because everyone’s wrapping up, the bun seem to be slightly cold as well. Tad bit disappointed, but will def come back for more.

Good experience overall, wish we arrived earlier to grub on the assorted dishes they offer. Oh well, they’re not going anywhere. Or are they. Them food trucks. Here’s the final thought:

We eat daily, why not try out something off the grid.*wink
That’s as good as I could possibly come up with for a one-liner.
Don’t hate.

’til next time,
