Phew, it sure has been one hell of a week. Felt like loosing a limb without these design programs. That sounds severe. Am I the only Adobe addict in the room?
Anyway, I’m back. With an upgraded drive, too. Time to do some damage (or just plain making up works for the days that I’m gone.)
Just 7 days ago, the rainbow of death creeped up while I was half way through editing the pictures for the blog post:
↑ This guy usually stay for a couple seconds, or at max a minute, but this time he didn’t leave until it crashed my laptop completely. (Go big or go home?)
Turnout, one of my connector cables’ fried. (The repair guy tossed it away before I had a chance to humiliate it.) AND was told that my hard drive’s in pretty bad shape. While I still have the bad-shape hard drive sealed and placed next to my desk, I have slim hope that I’d get to pull any file out of it. The authorized repair guy fixed replaced my hard drive, but unable to transfer anything. I’m glad I backed up all the files up to 08/26 before I headed down to LA. Although the the time machine transfered all the files, I couldn’t retrieve any of the applications.
At times like this, you’d really appreciate to have friends like Marvin.
↑ He understood how vital these apps are to a designer. So he was down to help as soon as I contacted him.
While I wait to get the softwares installed, Marvin’s enjoying a few eps of “Mad Men.” The few clips that I saw was rather interesting. Anyone watch this show?

Things to take away from this experience: 1.) ALWAYS back up your crap. frequently. 2.) Shut down your laptop when you can. Being slothful like me x hibernating often = burnt connecting cable + messed up hard drive.
