Happy memorial day, guys. This past week, I went up to Davis for the 11th annual Korean Culture Night – this time around, it’s a charity concert to provide relief for the North Korea refugees and contribute an effort to end human rights crisis. Talents like YouTube phenomenon – Clara C, hiphop artist Dumbfoundead, Ben and the Shooting, Mickey Cho, and Fong Tran all came out to support. Great turn out, here’s what went down:
Arrived couple hours before door opens to set up. A quick shot of Andrew, one of the main photographers to document this epic event.
↑If you think he looks familiar, maybe because this handsome fella was one of the models from our Series 3 shoot. Ladies.
This is what you earn for arriving early to an event – front roll seat for Clara C’s sound checks:
↑Gentlemen, stop drooling.
..and freestyle from Dumbfoundead. All 15 minutes of it.
Got distracted. Back to set up. A quick peek out the front door – a long line of excited fans are ready to rush in for a piece of KCN.
My team arrived soon after to prep for the table.

I’ve decided to bring back the previous way of placement for tables instead of the rack I designed a while back that requires a long time for assembly. Clean and simple aesthetics goes a long way, the rack still needs lots of improvement to make it efficient and effect for vending.

↑ One of the cases broke during transport, I had to think of something to cover up – how about a break out?
Laurence and Valerie from Aggie TV swung by for the coverage.
7PM – time to start the show:
First shot of the night – Mickey and Hanna holding it down.
↑ Fueled by passion, Mickey’s an upcoming rapper from the Bay Area. PTL’s his latest album. Check it and support!

Next up: One of Davis’ finest dance groups – MK Modern.

Time passed quickly:

↑Francis, a gifted dancers that’s helped TIZ out through many many many shows, and Grace! Always a pleasure hanging out with happy people.
Adrienne’s new old camera.
↑Andrew, another talented photographer you can’t afford to miss.
A quick snap before the show start:
↑They make it look easy. Thanks for all the help, guys!
Nothing better to kick off the second part of the show than raffle giveaways.
↑This man, whose name has escaped my head, bought 50 raffles (at 1 dollar each) to support – in return, he took home more than 6 prizes(way beyond $50.) It’s the result of a combination of strategy, luck, and good karma. Winner.
Though, I think I was a bigger winner of the night. I’ve given away things, but never won anything before. This night, I actually won a $20 gift certificate to my favorite Korean restaurant – Sa Rang Bang. Chyea.
Moving on.
Starting off the second half, we had Ben and the Shooting Stars:

Then, the two final acts everyone’s been waiting for:
↑If you think her voice was beautiful on YouTube, you ought go to one of her live shows.

Clara’s debut album. Good music and cool artwork, what more can you ask for?
Last but certainly not least, Dumbfoundead and DJ Zo:
↑Organic and entertaining, they teared the stage.

Show was expected to end at 9PM, but thanks to the engaging crowd, they didn’t stop till 10PM.
Talk about getting your money’s worth.

↑ Congrats to Helen for taking her academic route to new heights! East coast will be loads of fun. I miss it already (aside from the cold.)

↑One picture. For every event.
VIP meet and greet! ..that I missed.

↑Not sure what happened, but seem glorious.

↑ Hours of tabling and few meal skipping only to make this taste so much better.
That’s a wrap!
’til next time,
