Just this summer, Kerry, a mutual friend of Yen’s, and Steve (both creatives) moved drove all the waaaaayyy down from Chicago to start a new chapter of their lives. Kerry’s doing grad program on film in USC, while Steve’s taking on freelance in the field of animation. For the past few months, we’ve been talking about future projects through facebook (praise the internet), and I finally caught a chance to meet and chat with them when I was in town.
I arrived early, so I took a stroll down the block, only to find some extraordinary stores:
LAMILLCOFFEE keeping it sweet and personal: 
↑ I didn’t even notice the banners on the seat till I took a second look. “Not opening near you, or on every other block.” Spit that right in Starbucks face. A polar approach from the wide spread coffee chain.
Cool indie design stores scattered across the street.
Filled with creative little gadgets and posters. I could explore that place all day..and unable to afford anything.

Same deal. A tiny place filled with amazing stuff.
I haven’t never seen any store with a more casual store hour than this:

Kerry and Steve.
Super cool folks. From a quick project discussion, the conversation moved onto their journey to Cali, micro sites, people that do twitter for a living, and crazy film role casting calls. It was a solid three hours of we-gotta-do-this-again.
We talked so much, I couldn’t believe how oblivious I was to their collection of interesting things. Not only does the street that they live on have cool things, they own quite a few remarkable toys themselves.
