Macworld 2011 Recap

First time attending an Apple product oriented show, though, Apple wasn’t even there. I’ve heard polar reviews on this event, so I just gotta check it out myself. I was also able to register to this event for free(thanks to Slickdeal) otherwise around $10-$15.

I know parking would be a pain in the ass, so I chose:

Reminded me of Davis :

↑Overcast weather with sprinkles – bad for business.

This time Macworld was held at the Moscone Center (San Francisco) right across from Metreon. The venue’s smaller in comparison to the past (or so I heard) and it’s about a quarter size of CES.

This is a 3 day long event from Thursday (27th) to Saturday (29th).
But for an individual, who just like to check out what they offer, 1 day would suffice.
In fact, I was able to get through almost everything at the event ( but not thoroughly booth to booth) within 3 hours.

Oh, you didn’t know? I’m collecting badges, now.

Met up [Billy aka ARMS] and bumped into Gary!

↑Haven’t seen these guys since graduation. Don’t want to put boost Apple’s ego, but dyam, Apple unites us.

1st stop – Trexta.

↑They specializes in cases. They have this DIY case, where you can sketch up your designs.

Too bad they don’t have it for ipod Touch. And the case made out of paper (still pretty rigid) so the ink might get smeared a bit.

↑Billy’s [“My broskies”]

Word?

Tech talks through out.

↑Last time I swung by, they were talking about how Apple changed their lives.

TuneUp!

↑An iTune plug-in that helps identity and organize your music.

A 3D display demonstration.

I saw the same product at CES. A wagon that rides on the track of the record and plays the music.

↑It was around $80ish? Super cool, except I don’t own any records.

Billy’s here at Macworld for this booth- Amplitude.

↑With one of their adapters, you can record and tweak your music via your own guitar, mic, or mixer.

Cool painting:

But wait, its made out of iphone cases!

Eboy was throwing it down:

oooh..

THE iGRILL:

↑Word?

There was long line wrapped around this booth – turn out, they were doing a giveaway with putting – whoever that makes it get an ipad case:

Win! ($40 on Amazon)

↑..except I don’t have an iPad.

Blue Microphones:

The snowball:

Air tight / underwater iphone and ipad case:

Pretty cool:

↑ Not sure what the actual record spinning DJs would think about this.

A $22,000 machine that helps take 360 round view product shots.

Not a touch screen – projector and sensors.

↑It’s not as senstive (3M has the best touch screen device by far) and you’d have to get the whiteboard AND the projector enable for this to work.

Fujitsu’s new project – I’ve seen news about this through out the past 3 days.

↑Portable scanner that digitize all documents giving you a paperless lifestyle (at home.)

More DJ stuff:

I’ve been a fan of IdN – a design magazine. I didn’t know it founded and branched from Hong Kong.

↑Their magazines are very delicately designed with an extra glossy finish. The layout of the content is revolutionary – for designers, if you haven’t already, you should def check it out when you get a chance.

SmartPen – perhaps our favorite product at the convention.

↑There was a few glitches during the demonstration, but we got the idea – it records ALL the writing /sketching and digitize it to your computer.

You can develop and use their built in apps as well- We’re playing the piano right now:

↑I’ve seen this product before the event, but never tried it till now – it’s amazing! A few down side, though – it uses a dedicated notebook, it’s priced at $130, and the pen’s slightly heavy. Remarkable product, nonetheless.

And that was wrap of the show – at least MY highlights.

On the way back, Bill showed me his new biz card. Looks pretty slick!

Snapped a few photos before I left SF:

↑MOMA

↑Coool window display!

I enjoyed Macworld, it was compact and full of surprises, definitely would try to come out again.
