Renegade Craft Fair – San Francisco

One of the most inspiring events I’ve been to.
It was a gigantic Etsy nation gathering. 200+ crafty artists showed up with their proudest work.
Cool thing about fairs is that the price of the products is generally cheaper than what they would sell for online.
I picked up a few things and took a good chunk of photos of some of my favorite shops there.

Here’s what went down:

↑After sitting in front my desk designing and all that good stuff for the last couple of days, I thought I’d walk out my room for once to enjoy some sun (yet, it’s been raining.) I dragged my sister, brother, his gf to this craft fair. (Thanks Karen for letting me know!)

It was graaaand.

The cover design of this event was what really attracted me.

↑ I almost framed this pamphlet on my wall. almost.

I heard there was a free photobooth – the first thing we went to.

↑ Beautifully designed – [Mognolia photobooth]

↑ You’d image they’d look janky since it’s free. It was the complete opposite,  I was really impressed by the print job and paper they used. They put out props for the shoot, too!

[Woolbuddy] – “hand made cuties.”

↑Wide selections of wool creatures – $10 – $45.

↑ZEBRA! disclaimer: my favorite animal’s actually tigers. Though, zebras are pretty cool, too.

↑ Check out that detail!

Another remarkable store with remarkable products- [Glass Cathedrals]

↑ A simple concept with a minimalistic design. This one’s called “unplugged.”

Hand made watches by [Timepieces].

↑$145 at the event – oh man.

Cassette tape pouches and cases by [Brave Moon Man]

↑ So awesome – I almost picked up case, until I realized I don’t know what to do with it.

I’ve seen his art on ffffound, tumblr…etc. Couldn’t believe he made it to the fair – [Mis Nopales Art]

First purchase – 2 stickers. haha.

↑ Impulsive buy. I mean, could you have resisted?!

Adorable plush toys by [Janiexy]

↑Aside from their toys, what really caught my eyes was their table set up! Check out those buildings in the back. The creatives at this event are ON. FIRE.

I saw A LOT mustache related products. Like it was the next “pet rock.” But there’s only 1 “beard” stand – [Beards]

Here’s where I got my 2nd item – [Monkey Ink]

↑ John Howard’s the artist behind all the posters.

But posters are ordinary. There were at least 7 tables there selling posters. Why did I choose this one in particular?

They’re freaking 3D!!!!

↑ The style of the posters’ pretty epic, too. Each with a story before the graphic.

I couldn’t even try to talk myself out of it.
I stumbled upon this table first, then I dragged my brother. then I dragged my sister. There was just no way I’m gana walk out this fair without picking up one of their 3D posters.

↑ I ended up buying the one at the corner. 100 pieces made world wide. It was designed for the Beatlemania Museum at Hamburg, Gemany, the place where Beatles started with their career. This particular poster was a visual interpretation of Beatle’s – “Octopus’s Garden.” Came with a 3D glasses, too.

A clothing brand from Burbank – [Milk & Eggs Co.]

↑ Clean and iconic designs from Milk & Egg are real eye catchers. Dave and I had a quick chat about cameras – He owns a Canon (didn’t pick up the model) with a 16-35 f.2.8.

Wipe your mouth.

[The Steppie] from So-cal.

↑ Can’t go wrong with pandas and ninjas!

Plastic jewery by [plastique]

Phenomenal.

↑They had necklaces that says “Helvetica”, rings that spell out “kern”. You’d love their typography collection.

These I came across these fellas from “A plush plush” (site seems to be down at the time. )

Kodak moment.

Cool little paper weights/sculpture by [Emma Sancartier].

↑Looks like great gifts!

The very last item I picked up from the show:

↑ [The Poetry Store] by Silvi Alcivar, the girl with the vintage typewriter.

Here’s how it works: Provide her a name ( can be anything ) and what you want the poetry to be about, then she’ll impove a short poem for you on the spot!  ($5-$50)

I had one made for “The Imaginary Zebra”:

↑”imagination for tiz

imagination
makes it happen
turning cloudshapes
and blank walls
into massively
mysterious
black and white
striped animals,
walking around now
being oh so
fashionable.

Cool lanterns. I forgot to get their contact, though..

Phew, that was a wrap for the show. Pretty epic, no?

The almost 3 hour walk made us hungry, so we swung by Japan to grab a quick bite:

↑ The Margaret stare!

mmmMmm.

Hours later, Cody swung by for our “upcoming projects.” (More info soon. )

↑A photography related website. Will reveal our beta version shortly – stay tuned!

His latest pick up: glass from Tamron.

Sexy ultra wide angle.

’til next time
