It’s been a very significant weekend. Aside from breaking my own record of driving-for-the-longest time-in-3 days (20+ hours spent driving alone), I was able to bring my interns to our FIRST outside of Davis event, meet a crap load of interesting people, plus a few reunions. Definitely will do this more often, even with the hell drive.
Anyway, here’s what’s up:
Invited by Dan Matthews from [After School Special] and [SD Asian Film Fest], we were asked to come up with a [photo back drop] and vend at the week long film festival. Due to school, which always turn out to be getting in the way of things, we could only stay for the weekend. Davis to San Diego, then back to Davis in a weekend? Sounds good to me.
We took off right after Tim’s last mid term.
It’s approximately 8 hour of drive down south, given that there’s with no traffic.
you laughed, ’cause you know there’s just NO WAY there’s no traffic. LA’s trafficsville.
This following picture was taken on 80 to i5.
Music, conversation, and some games held me through the first 5 hours of drive.
First pit stop:
Refueling the car and our stomach. Dinner was resolved with McDonald.
Made it to SD!
Thanks to Adrienne, we got a Hotel next to the harbor. Long exposure shots are my favorites.
We took 2 cars, with Li and Eden in mine. We took the flag, made it first. (Mainly because they took a wrong turn. ha)
Our hotel room.
Oh, Tim.
Bay view’s how we roll. Sometimes.
It was getting pretty late, but we weren’t just gana wrap the day up without going out on an adventure – Late night snack time.
1:32 AM, Alyson got stuck between the elevator doors.
We were 5 minutes away from the downtown area.
A decent pizza place/ only place that was open at 2 in the morning.
The best nom nom, ever.
Then some of the interns went to visit UCSD, I decided to crash. BAM, there goes day 1.
Day 2 was the reason why we were there – The Asian Film Fest! They had foreign Asian films showing almost every hour of the day. We arrived early to set up, the event started at 12PM and ended at 12PM, then followed by an after party.
Our display project – P.L.M (more updates on the making of this display soon.)
Custom back drop made for the occasion. Big ups to Li, Eden, Karen, Antonia, Alyson, and Johnson for making it possible. A 7 by 5 feet back drop – hand painted the night before our departure.
All the photos taken will be posted [here] (I’m still working on resizing the image..will be up very soon), here’s a quick glance of a few of them:
Brian provided all the lighting equipment and the hanger. Mad props.
Our new friends – Jin and Tilly!
Super awesome group of folks!
Chris Dinh!
Everyone wants to get a piece Chris.
The theater wasn’t always crowded, in fact, quite empty during each film. We used the time to meet the peeps that also had tables at the event. Here’s Johnny Tran from [Johnny Tran Music], pro DJ. He didn’t need any of that auto sync program, it was all done by ears, baby.
After party at BlowFish.
Danny Pudi from Community!
James Kyson Lee from Heroes
Harry Shum Jr from GLEE / LXD
Stop drooling, wipe yo-self.
John Cho from a lot of things.
We actually got to talk to some of these big shots, good times.
Wrap of Day 2.
Our last day at San Diego. We were able to table just briefly at the event, but still pretty awesome. Why? You’ll see:
Alyson’s friend, Allen, brought “LA fries” – Carne Asada Fries. Why didn’t we have any NorCal representin’ food? (or do we?) and how can someone make fries this good?!
The highlight of day 3 – Asian Hollywood Panel. Harry Shum Jr. and Ellen Wong from Scott Pilgrim vs the World.
Stop drooling, wipe yo-self.
Got my shirt signed. Now time to look for a big enough frame.
More photos for the rest of the event:
Dyam, Tim’s a pro model.
Mindy got the very last collabo shirt.
TimothyDelaGhetto aka [Traphik] from YouTube.
And that pretty much wrap the trip up.
I just like to thank all the staff and volunteers at SD Asian Film Fest for their hospitality of having us around. Alyson, Eden, Li, Johnson, Adrienne, and Tim for dedicating their time to help TIZ out. Brian for lending us the photo equipments. And of course, Dan for inviting us down to SD.
Tim’s exactly the same as the picture above. Sorta have a photoshop+ copy and past effect.
My crew can beat yours any day.
