If you’re here to seek reviews of the wineries, you’re at the wrong place.
I’ve tried a handful of wines in my lifetime, some extraordinarily expensive and others cheaper than common soft drinks, but most of the time I couldn’t tell the difference. I do, however, very much enjoy good company on a good day with an alcoholic beverage in my hand. So do my friends.
A couple weekends ago, Kyle, Yao, and his friend Daphne, took a trip up from SoCal for a visit. Napa was the first stop they wanted to check out. I don’t blame them, Napa’s a unique site of NorCal. Not only does it carry many world’s most vibrant wineries and certainly some of the most delicious wines out there (Not that I can really tell), it’s complemented by world class scenery (in my opinion.)
↑ The crew.
To fill up our tummies, we swung by Bouchon. After four years of college drinkage, we all know that it’s never good to drink on an empty stomach.
So good.
So hungry.
↑Tony wanted more than he could chew.
Birds here aren’t shy of snatching food off your hands. The bread’s that good.
First winery: Peju.
One of the most entertaining host I’ve ever met. He’s had endless things to say – from Taiwan to Starcraft. He had the charisma of always having two cups too many coffee in his system. I’d buy tickets to see a showdown between him and Gary Vaynerchuk.
It doesn’t take much for us to glow.
Heading off to the next winery – a small one called..whose name I’ve forgotten. By the time we got there, it was already serving its final tasting of the day. Bummer.
We did use their restroom and sought an opportunity to check out their gigantic tanks of fermenters, though.
Moving on, the third stop – Artesa. Yet again, we were too late to get a tasting going, but we were still delighted by its views. It’s located on the hills above most wineries.
Check. This. Out.
Took my breath away.
Kyle’s a poetic fella. Even when speaking on the phone.
A great time requires good friends and perhaps just a few glasses of wine.
Final stop, Domaine Carneros.
Known for its sparkling wine. This is the same exact place where I learned the difference between sparkling wine and champaign, where only sparkling wine made in France can earn the title of champaign. Simple enough, now to the tasting:
..and a side of cheese.
Good times, good people, good day.
’til next outing,
