Customized 2-1/2 feet Craft-Cube

A quick project (actually, it took me an entire afternoon) that I did awhile back for [Rolo’s “a day in my life” photo project.] It’s a work in progress, but I thought it’s about time to share it with you all.

I initiated the craft-cube because of this:

↑ To save cost, I collected long pieces of wood and bricks to build stack them into a shelf. I painted them black for a uniformed look, but there were one issue..

..they weren’t the same length, leaving a large vacant area:

At first, I imaged the space to be occupied by [a companion figure.] Then, I looked at wallet.. and decided to go for a different route.

A friend of mine sent me these templates from way back, I never found the opportunity to play around with it till now – They’re called “Cubeecraft“, seem to be an open-to-public art craft that allow everyone to download the template and make these on their own.

They had plenty of characters to choose from (and many more customized one from users like you and me.):

Except for one thing: they’re too tiny to fill the space.

↑The original “CubeeCraft” is only a few inches tall – I need something around 30 inches in height.

Time to go to the drawing board and blew up the original template with some calculation.

Step one wasn’t too bad.

The most tedious step’s stage 2:

↑ Glad I saved the giant cardbox box that came with the [bulletin board] I bought last month. Save your trash (probably just ones with potential), never know when you’ll be able to use them.

↑ These paper crafts are meant to be tape-less, but I made a few measurement errors (fail to calculate the thickness of the cardboard,) so I had to use necessary force.

Tada! basic structure’s done.

Final step, funnest of all:

↑While Rolo was here, I had him sign the craft-cube.

↑The crafty looking cardboard didn’t turn out to be as cool as I hoped for. Especially with the taped edges, it made the craft-cube look pretty janky.

so I asked Michelle posted all the stickers on it (more stickers will be posted until this guy’s completely filled.)

↑Send me your stickers, it’ll be a part of its jacket. word?

Haven’t posted these for a long time, now I’m curious about:
