Jay Chou’s Concert – New Year’s Eve

Wrapped the year up with Jay Chou’s concert.
He’s one of the most talented artists around – compose, sing, act, direct, host..done it all.  (Owns a SLR 722, the only SLR 722 in Taiwan or so I heard.)
This marked my first concert experience. The performance was quite epic, except the people around us was way too cool for concerts – all calm and quiet as if they were attending a poetry reading event.

p.s. He’s the Chinese guy from Green Hornet. Didn’t know he sings, now, did you.

Anyway, here’s what went down:

Since the concert was held in San Jose, we swung by Cody’s [Harbor Fish & Chips] to prep us for the evening.

Man, do I miss their food.

Soon after, we arrived at the HP Pavilion.

↑Show started 9 (as if concerts always start on time), we decided to arrive a few hours earlier to make sure we don’t wait in the back of the line and snatch up a few merchandise, despite the fact that we paid about $150 for the tickets. (Ended up, they didn’t sell anything but glow sticks.)

↑Michelle’s new friend – She received a front row ticket as a gift.

↑The fans.

↑ First time seeing a Chevy police car.

↑Just 10 minutes after we arrived (door opened at 8, supposedly), line was almost a block long. Another proof that majority of the people are procrastinators – showing up just right before the door opens.

Got in, settled, excited.

↑Coco with his brand new 10-24.

↑The place was GRAND.

↑Garlic fries from Gordon Biersch. The owner of this restaurant/brewery gave a talk in my beer brewing class from UCD. He claimed to be the INVENTOR of garlic fries, which all happened in the college dorm room back when he was still in college. Ever since I heard the story, I had to try out their fries. And I did – it was pretty awesome.

..what more did you expect?

30 minutes till all hell break lose.

↑Stadium was gradually filled.

↑BAM – lights dimmed. Music was pumpin’ – Jay Chou was fashionably late. Regardless, the crowd was wild (except for the people around us.)

↑I have no clue, neither.

↑Under Jay Chou’s own record label – a special guest – Cindy.

↑Of course, gotta spread the name.

↑ We count down new years every year – but Jay will only sing in San Jose once – the countdown could wait.

Woot woot

↑民國100! 2011!

↑Finishing strong with “雙節棍.” “hoo hoo ha hee!”

↑Encore performances.

Good times, good fun.

’til next time,
