Spicy Tunaaa – Design process

A few months back(whoa, sure been awhile), I asked you guys to come up with a name for a new project that my friend and I will be doing – a site that serves as an archive to place all the cool stuff we come across the web. I finally gotten a chance to work on it now.

Your votes wanted the project to be named as Spicy Tuna.

It was completely out of the blue for a name that represents a design blog. But I dig it.

Sidenote// Spicy Tuna‘s taken, so I decided to use Spicy Tunaaa instead. (with 3 A’s).

Once I had the final result (Spicy Tunaaa), I started to brainstorm for the site layout/theme/logo..etc. Here’s the process:

After a few rough sketches, I decided to go for the food direction. More realism instead of the web 2.0 look.  Since the name’s so random, there’s no reason why we should follow the guidelines of a design blog.

Then, I gathered pictures for the layout. Can food.

Fork.

Next, I moved onto logos.

We tried combining pepper with tuna. Didn’t work out.

Finally ended with font type logo as oppose to separate graphic logo and texts.

More curve for the fish. A vintage can logo look, perhaps.

End result. Since we’re going for the food concept, the slogan ended up to be “Your daily serving of inspirations.”

And here’s the site.

Things are still a bit rough on the edges, but will sure be improved as time goes on. Spicy Tunaaa!
