UCD APhiO Design Process

Invited by a friend from APhiO, I was asked to come up with a design for the Spring 2010 pledge class. Why not?

Background:
– Their mascot for this class is Iron Man.
– Keep cost down by limiting to 2 colors.
– Must include names/titles/date.

Here goes the process:

Since the mascot’s pretty specific, there’s not much room to play with the character.
A twist, though. Iron Man consists of a these colors: Red and Gold armors and blue/white rays in the center of the chest. That’s one too many colors.

To omit that center piece, yet not make the character look too awkward, I added a ribbon across the chest. A ribbon of merits, sorta speak.

Here’s the design.

Each badge symbolizes the characteristics of the fraternity. Lead, Friendship, and Service.

The back design.

The placement of the design.

Fin.
