Took us 4 months to get this ready.
[afterschoolspecial]’s a Rock/Rap band from San Diego. With their upcoming album release – It’s All In Your Head, they teamed up with [Wong Fu Productions] to produce a MV for one of their singles. On the other hand, we’re asked to collaborate a few tees. I was stoked! Here’s what went down. on my end:
Met Dan, the rock star with big personality, from afterschoolspecial for the first time at one of TIZ’s past events. Since then, we’ve been conversing through emails over this collab.

From their album – It’s All In Your Head – Less of a diagnosis and more of a statement, IT’S ALL IN YOUR HEAD, is a message that all the distractions, excuses, pressure, and struggle that we feel is ALL IN OUR HEAD. It’s once we realize this and find methods to get beyond, that’s when we can truly create, learn, and grow. The album gets inside the heads of afterschoolspecial and uses the sometimes dark, random, and scattered thoughts in a more positive constructive manner, to make music.

Melting people’s faces. The usuals. 
Now that you have a good idea of who they are, here’s the design process of the tees:
I came up with 2 distinctive approaches – Illustration and Typography.
Rough sketches and brainstorm sessions:
Illustration: I have TIZ’s mascot holding their mask with a rootin’ hand. Concept behind is straight forward – We’re fans.
Final Design: 
Typography: Playing with fonts, lines, and shapes to reflect afterschoolspecial.

↑My mediocre sketching skill cant always drew out the proportional posture that I have in mind. So, instead of investing in a sketching mannequin, which is much easier, I’d take a photo of the pose, then develop after.
