BPM Shirts Design Process


BPM(Beats Per Minute),  a collaborative dance team between Mobility, Breakdance club, and Popping club, decided to make a memorial tshirt to celebrate their achievement at DDR 2010. I’m very honored to help execute this idea.

Here’s what went down for planning:

-The color of the shirt was set – Teal. (people seem to LOVE this color)
-BPM has 25 members, each with his/her own distinctive style. Since its a memorial shirt, I thought it’s crucial to include all the members as oppose to have a generic logo tee.
-Personalize the tee with quotes/inside jokes from each group. 
-Can’t exceed more than 2-3 colors, or else it might look messy, especially with all the elements we’d like to add to the shirt.

Since their performance at DDR was a carefully choreographed story with heroes/heroines and villains, I thought a comic style design would be suitable.

With 25 characters, I chose photography to capture their essence.
