Just a few hours ago, UC Davis had their very first Lipdub event! History in the making.
Note:// For those who don’t know what Lipdub is, it’s a home made one-take music video with lip-syncing and audio-dubbing. To get a better idea,[ youTube it.]
[Aggie TV], the host of the event, invited TIZ to come up with a collaboration tee for the occasion. (Hell yes) It’s pretty exciting to be a part of something this EPIC. Here’s how the design process went down:
Background:
1.) Include “Aggie TV presents LipDub”
2.) Include elements of UC Davis – Double-Deckers, Bikes, Cattles/Cows..etc
3.) Light blue base for the design.
4.) Rest was up to me.
Sketches & Brainstorm:
Since shirts will be worn in the shoot, the design should be clear enough for people to see them while in movement. Yet keeping it bold and simple might loose some details.
↑ Facing the dilemma, I came up with 2 concepts.
After discussing with them, I eventually merged both concepts into one – with detailed design for the passengers in the bus and keeping the bold lettering on the bus.
↑ Final sketch: Diversified passengers lip-sync in a giant “triple-decker bus.” with bikes in front.
Digitizing the sketches:
I chose the hand-sketch/doodle style for this particular shirt – more organic and playful to fit the occasion.
Tada: I kept the passengers black to avoid distractions from the bus itself. But as you look closely, you can see the actions and smiles that reflects the joyfulness of the lipdub event. We got the cows going “moo,” too.
This back’s made particularly for the Aggie staff at the event.
If you’re a UC Davis student/live around Davis, you can order one of the shirts through [here].
// More details/info in the link. Shirts are sold exclusively through Aggie TV.
