I Photograph SF Series Design Process

A photography series for Plushtography.

I heart NY was a mark created by Milton Glaser as an ad campaign to promote tourism for NYC back in 1970s. It swapped across the nation and soon became a pop culture icon that has many many imitations. Obviously, this isn’t a brand new concept, but I have yet to see a spin off that gear towards the photography fanatics. Especially one that serves the niche of Canon and Nikon users.

Not only do I want to resonate with my fellow photographers in SF, I’ve been meaning to look for a shirt that express my enthusiasm for photography and the spectacular sights of San Francisco.

Nikon’s 24-70mm f/2.8G and Canon’s 24-105mm f/4 L lenses are chosen to kick start this series for its phenomenal quality and built, as well as it’s popularity towards the crowd.

I used the 24-105 once and enjoyed it very much. Its super quick focus in low light blew my Sigma 18-50 f2.8 out of the water.  I miss this lens everyday.

The orignal concept provides a simple and straight forward aesthetics. But it comes to lenses instead of a heart, I think a silhouette of it just wouldn’t do it justice. I appreciate the hardware of a lens as much as its performance. The placements of each ring and the complexity of its look are what makes a lens beautiful. So I hand sketched each of the lens for the series:

Imperfection makes value.

The Nikon 24-70.

The Canon 24-105.

Custom neck labels were designed to launch the apparel collection for Plushtography.

These shirts are now available to pre-order at Plushtography.com
