Violin & New Books

Went back to Davis last week. Had the 1 hour photo project where Frank, Kyle, and I adventured around Davis. Yet another way amuse ourselves where nothing else will do. Frank’s got a several years of violin training down his belt, but no ordinary man get to see him play.

There was a blue moon, so he played.

It’s been awhile, gotta adjust.

While I’m at it, here’s a quick anatomy overview.  We learn something new everyday.

Ever since I first encounter a violin, I thought F-hole’s one of the most beautiful shapes I’ve seen.

More adjustment.

bam!

Then, a few packages arrived my place.

I’ve just been throwing all my mulah’s in books lately.

Seth Godin‘s my new hero. I’ve talked about this guy to my friends plenty of times. He stresses being “remarkable”. Not just excellence, but worth talking about.  Brilliant marketer and blogger. Bald and quirky looking guy.

Recommended by Ron, I got the Buzz marketing by Mark Hughes. (I’ve got links to all the books at the end of this post. )

Then, there’s Malcolm Gladwell.  I’ve read the Tipping Point, Blink, and in the process of Outlier. I couldn’t let this one go. He likes to gather a bunch of intriguing anecdotes for all his writing, which keeps you reading.

Since I’m moving back home, I decided to have a little renovation while I’m at it. Apartment therapy‘s an amazing website I follow. They offer a great amount of interior inspirations by residents across the globe. It’s great because they’re all small rooms like ours.

When they had this book out, I bought it without hesitant.

Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. The book only covered a few places with little variety.

Hand Job!

This one’s ok. All things hand-illustrated. I like the style because it adds personality.

Red Dot Yearbooks. Brilliant! Red Dot an design award from Singapore.

So much inspirations! I’m really like the 2006-2007 edition. It’s around $20 since it was published a few years ago. I also purchased the 2005-2006 edition. That one was a bit different. Felt like the design and style within that edition was distant from the trends of today.

I highly recommend 2007-2007 edition.

Last but not least. Mini-graphics. Yet another great buy! A book filled with amazing business cards. Really gets your creativity flowing.

For the great books I mentioned, here are their links (if you can’t see the plug ins, click here.) I bought all of them via Amazon.
